ABOUT ZONE

A structured approach to visual demand.

Zone was developed in response to increasing awareness of visual load within modern structured environments.

Classrooms today are visually active spaces. Displays, movement, lighting contrast and environmental change are part of everyday learning. While many pupils navigate this comfortably, for some, visual processing demand can become an additional barrier before focus even begins.

Zone was created to explore a simple question:

Can environmental demand be reduced without lowering expectation?

The Origin

Zone began as a practical design response — not as a trend-driven product.

With a background in engineering and product development, the objective was to approach visual overload as a design challenge rather than a behavioural one.

Instead of modifying the learner, the focus shifted to modifying the visual field.

The result is a lensless visual support designed to reduce peripheral and overhead input while maintaining full inclusion in structured learning environments.

Development Approach

Zone has been built through iterative prototyping and refinement.

Each stage has focused on:

• Geometry of visual shielding

• Comfort and wearability

• Classroom suitability

• Practical implementation

The intention is not to create dependency, but to offer a low-risk, reversible environmental adjustment.

Current Phase

Zone is currently in structured development and educator evaluation.

Feedback from SEND professionals, classroom practitioners and leadership teams continues to inform refinement prior to wider release.

Education remains the primary foundation.

Looking Forward

While future applications may extend into structured work and performance environments, the core principle remains unchanged:

Reduce environmental demand — not expectation.
